The Goldsboro-Wayne branch of the NAACP is partnering with the Red Cross for a blood drive this Thursday, July 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The blood drive will be located at Deeper Life Church Ministries, 900 Eleventh Street in Goldsboro.
“I am excited about this opportunity to partner with the Goldsboro-Wayne NAACP,” said Miranda Harrison, Account Manager II, Donor Recruitment, Red Cross. “Right now, the Red Cross has a critical need for African American and Black individuals to give blood following a decline in donations needed for patients with sickle cell disease amid this #COVID19 outbreak.”
To schedule your lifesaving appointment visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter “Goldsboro NAACP”. The Red Cross needs all eligible donors. Young persons, at least 16 years old, can donate with a signed parental consent form.
The Red Cross is offering an initial screening test to provide donors with valuable insight into their sickle cell trait status; however, Red Cross is not testing donations to diagnose sickle cell disease. Additionally, free health screening will check temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and hemoglobin (iron) levels.
