Pearline “Lynn” Kornegay Kearney, 71, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Wayne County on June 14, 1950, she was the daughter of the late James Kornegay and Rosa Bass Kornegay.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, of 44 years, Lynwood Earl “PeeWee” Kearney; brothers, Larry Kornegay and James Kornegay, Jr.; and sister, Brenda Kornegay.
Lynn is survived by her children, Melinda Edgerton Flores (Barbara Anderson), Becky Lynn Edgerton (Keith Gray), Andrew Jackson Kearney and wife Tammy, Juanice Kearney White (Tommy Barnes) and David Kohler; eight grandchildren, Lance White, Jr., Miranda White Barnes, Reagan White, Ashley Kearney, A.J. Kearney, Joshua Kearney, Victoria Kohler and Timothy Anderson; one great-grandchild, Mason McCullen; one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Jimmy Kornegay and wife Claudia of La Grange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lynn was a caring, loving mama and granny whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She was affectionally called “Squirrel” by many in her family. Lynn was a hard-working lady, which was the theme of her life. She was the kind of woman who was loyal to her family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them. She had worked for Kemp Furniture, Carolina Turkeys, and retired from Georgia Pacific after 18 and a half years of service. She had also worked as a waitress for many years.
Along with her husband, Lynn was a member of American Legion Post 11 for over 30 years and a member of the Moose Lodge. She also volunteered for many years with Relay For Life through Georgia Pacific.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Park.
