August 20, 2021, 55, Goldsboro –
Melinda Wells Blackman, 55, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by her husband and family.
Melinda was born in Cumberland County, and was the daughter of the late Russell and Patricia Wells of Goldsboro.
Melinda graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1984 and then attended East Carolina University to obtain a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She worked with Wake Technical Community College of Raleigh as a Budget Analyst for the last 15 years. Her co-workers were such good friends and a great support system for her. They were always there to help her any way they possibly could. She looked at them as her second family.
She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and she loved to do the children’s sermons and tried to always find ways to keep them interesting and unique. It seemed that the congregation loved them just as much as the children did. She also found a lot of peace and relaxation traveling, fishing and cooking with her husband and enjoyed spending quality time with her brother Bryan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Falling Creek Baptist Church followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Robert Ellis and Dr. Billy Webb officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Robert and his daughter Valerie of Clayton and her brother, Bryan K. Wells of Goldsboro.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 498, Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
