Cora Fields Eason, 94, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Nash County on June 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George A. Fields and Ida Casey Fields.
Cora was a longtime member of Falling Creek United Methodist Church in Grantham. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Cora was employed as a teacher assistant with Wayne County Public Schools. She loved the many opportunities she had to mentor young people at her school. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.
Cora is survived by her son, Gary Wesley Eason and wife, Christina of Goldsboro; and grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Eason Magner and Patrick Storm Eason.
In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Eason, Jr.; son, John L. Eason, III; sister, Margaret F. Cunningham; and brother, George A. Fields.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate Cora’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Greg Moser officiating.
