Over half of Wayne County’s population has at least started getting vaccinated against the coronavirus. According to Tuesday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, 62,375 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Wayne County, representing 51% of the county’s population. 54,475 people have been fully vaccinated, which is just 44% of the county’s population.
New cases of the coronavirus are slowly trending down locally. 549 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Wayne County in the last 14 days. Wayne County has now recorded 296 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.
