Just before 3:30 PM on Monday, officers with Goldsboro Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Wayne Memorial Drive for a report of a deceased person. A citizen reported that an unknown person flagged him down as he was driving on Royall Avenue near Wayne Memorial Drive and asked for assistance getting his friend to the hospital for treatment. This unknown person placed the individual in the citizen’s vehicle and fled the scene. The citizen immediately called 911 for assistance. EMS workers arrived and began life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful. The Criminal Investigations Division and the Crime Scene Unit personnel responded and initiated an investigation. The deceased person has been identified as 43-year-old Jermaine Faison of Goldsboro. The circumstances surrounding Faison’s death are under investigation.
UPDATE: Faison was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy was performed. The Goldsboro Police Department reports the preliminary results from the autopsy show Faison died of natural causes. The formal results and toxicology reports are pending. The investigation will be officially closed upon receipt of the formal autopsy report.
