(GDN) — According to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, 257 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Wayne County over the past two weeks. The number shows a slight increase in the number of new cases reported recently. Wayne County has recorded 308 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.
Wednesday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services show 65,501 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Wayne County, which represents 53% of the county’s population. 58,943 people have been fully vaccinated, which is 48% of the population of Wayne County.
The COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots remain available through the Wayne County Health Department. Children 5-11 can now receive the Pfizer vaccine through the Wayne County Health Department.
