(GDN) — There’s new leadership on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners. 

As is tradition at the end of the year, the Wayne County Commissioners voted on the board’s new chair and vice-chair. 

District 6 Commissioner Joe Daughtery was named the new Chairman of the Board on a 5-2 vote. 

Daughtery thanked his fellow commissioners and said he hopes to work to bring unity to the board over the next year.

At-Large Commissioner Wayne Aycock was named Vice-Chairman on a 5-2 vote.
