(GDN) — 15 Wayne County Public Schools switched to masking-required on Wednesday, the very first day the new protocols took effect for the district. By this morning (Thursday) 21 WCPS schools are now under the mandatory masking requirement.
This week, the Wayne County Board of Education made a switch and decided to require masks be worn on a school-by-school basis. If a school reaches or exceeds 8% exclusion rate amongst students and staff, masks will then be required inside that school for at least two weeks (ten school days). Masks would become optional again once the school’s exclusion rate dropped below 8% after that two week period. Masks would remain optional if a school has an exclusion rate below 8%.
WCPS is keeping an up-to-date list of all the schools requiring masks on its website.
