Every week, Saluting Seymour and SoundScope highlight an airman serving at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.
Senior Airman Shelia Young from the 4th Fighter
Young has been in the Air Force nearly three years. She is from Mississippi. Young says she didn’t want to immediately head to college, so the military was a good option. Young is a Weapons Troop, so she is responsible for arming jets at Seymour Johnson. Seymour Johnson is Young’s first duty station. During her free time, Young likes to bowl, visit local parks and read. She says the benefits to an Air Force career include healthcare, education and travel. Young is hopeful she’ll have the opportunity to travel overseas during her Air Force career. She’s hoping to visit Korea, Hawai’i, England, and Italy during her time in the Air Force.
SoundScope can be heard on Fridays at 5:45 AM, 6:45 AM and 7:45 AM on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits 1150 AM and 98.3 FM.
