No. 25 Eastern Wayne went on the road and stunned No. 8 Research Triangle 45-43 during the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A playoffs on Tuesday evening.
Down 18-15 at halftime, Eastern Wayne outscored Research Triangle 30-25 in the second half to pull off the upset.
Albert Brown led the Warriors with 16 points. Zavian Oates had eight points, Julian Silvestri added six points, while Dowan Hodges contributed six points.
The Warriors (12-14 overall) will look to pull off another road upset on Thursday when they travel to No. 9 East Carteret.
Louisburg 52, Princeton 50
No. 22 Princeton fell to No. 11 Louisburg 52-50 in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs. Princeton ends the season with a 12-7 overall record.
The Bulldogs will lose two seniors – Jaydon Brooks and Xavier Kornegay – to graduation.
Pender 52, Rosewood 43
After winning the Carolina 1A Conference tournament, Rosewood had to go on the road for the first round of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs.
Despite their best efforts, the Eagles fell to Pender 53-43 on Tuesday. Rosewood will end the season with a, 11-15 overall record.
The Eagles are losing Otis Coley, Quay Butler and John Thompson to graduation.
The Burlington School 84, Wayne Country Day 56
In a rematch of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 2A semifinals, Wayne Country Day fell to The Burlington School 84-56 on Tuesday evening.
The Chargers will end the season with a 25-8 record.

Southern Wayne 55, White Oak 21
Southern Wayne won its 23rd game in a row by defeating White Oak 55-21 in the first round of the NCHSAA 3A playoffs on Tuesday evening.
No, 3 Southern Wayne will host No. 14 Williams (19-5) in the second round of the playoffs on Thursday.
The Burlington School 83, Wayne Christian 57
Wayne Christian’s amazing season came to an end in the NCISAA 2A semifinals on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles fell 83-57 and will end the season with an 18-4 record.
Southwest Onslow 66, Princeton 45
Princeton dropped its first-round playoff game against Southwest Onslow 66-45 on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (13-8 overall) will lose London Cook, Kayleigh Klein and Emma Ellis to graduation.
North Duplin 52, Lakewood 37
North Duplin beat Lakewood for the third time this season on Tuesday. The Rebels defeated the Leopards in the first round of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs.
No. 7 North Duplin (21-1) has now won 12 games in a row and will face No. 10 East Columbus (13-11) in the second round on Thursday.
North Pitt 81, Eastern Wayne 35
Eastern Wayne fell to North Pitt 81-35 in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs. The Warriors will end the season with a 14-10 overall record.
