(GDN) — Wayne County appears to have weathered the omicron surge.
According to Thursday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, 362 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Wayne County over the past two weeks. Last week at this time, that number was at 656. Wayne County has recorded 376 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began. That’s an additional four COVID deaths since this time last week.
1,982 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 across North Carolina. The state has now recorded over 22,449 coronavirus-related deaths.
