The Foundation of Wayne Community College will offer a variety of fare in its spring Arts and Humanities series.
The events include:
- “Acting Like Animals: Lessons (and Laughs) about Being Human from Aesop, Aristophanes, and the Ancient Greeks” lecture by Al Duncan (co-presented by Carolina Public Humanities) – March 14
- “‘The Story We Are In:’ The Book of Job, Suffering, and You” lecture by Deniz Tuck – March 21
- “Classics on Campus: A Sunday Afternoon Chamber Music Concert” by the Astralis Chamber Ensemble – March 27
- “Passion, Power, Prejudice: The Poetry of 9/11” readings by eastern North Carolina poets – April 4
- “George Whitfield’s Extraordinary Life and Career” interview of George Whitfield by John Peacock – April 11

Additionally, on March 8, the Foundation and the Wayne County Public Library will co-host a Women’s History Month talk by Capt. Lindsey Jefferies Jones, the North Carolina National Guard’s first African-American female Blackhawk pilot.
Participants can attend events in person in Moffatt Auditorium in the Wayne Learning Center on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro, watch them live on the Foundation webpage, or view them after the event at the same site. Note that the concert will be available for streaming for just one month after the event.
No registration is required and there is no charge. All programs start at 5:30 p.m. except the concert, which starts at 4 p.m.
WCC requires all persons on its campus to wear a mask when indoors. It reminds everyone to practice social distancing, hand sanitizing, and hygiene measures.
The Foundation of Wayne Community College is a non-profit organization that works to broaden the base of community support for educational opportunities at the college. In addition to providing cultural activities such as those in its Arts and Humanities Program, the Foundation assists students with scholarships and funds innovative campus projects and employee recognition opportunities.
