(GDN) – On April 19, 2022, crews removed the legendary Kiwanis Miniature Train in Herman Park to be taken to her new home. Mansfield Heliflight, LLC of Milton, purchased the blue locomotive and plan to donate it to the Shelburne Museum in Vermont.

The Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro donated the train to the City of Goldsboro in 1955. Since then, the little engine and its two cars have carried families around the track every summer (except 2020, due to Covid epidemic).

TA Loving Company donated the equipment, the operators and their expertise to lift the train off the tracks and onto a flatbed trailer for transport.

Kiwanis Club members say a new train is expected to be delivered in May and running by Memorial Day weekend.
