April 22, 2022, 75, Seven Springs –

Linda Carol Price Holmes, at the age of 75, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, April 22, 2022, while at Vidant Duplin Hospital.

Linda had lived in the Seven Springs area for most of her life. In recent years she had been residing with her daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Gray Summerlin. Linda had worked in various places during her working years, but perhaps the job she enjoyed most was that of being manager of Shoe Show.

Preceded in death by her parents, Simpson and Maybelle Strickland Price; a sister, Gaynelle P. White; and a long-time friend and companion, Marsden Brock.

Linda is survived by her six children, Delores S. Summerlin and husband, Gray, of Kenansville, Clifton Stroud of Dudley, Debbie Lynn H. Howard of Grantham, Paula H. Davis and husband, Malcolm “Bo,” of Mount Olive, Wendy H. Smith and husband, Kevin, of Mount Olive, and Donna Rae Hurley Holmes and wife, Dee, of Goldsboro; a sister, Ann P. Thompson and husband, Roy, of Seven Springs; a brother-in-law, Michael White of Seven Springs; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are special friends, Renee Pope, Beverly Stroud, and Candy Alexander. A special thanks is extended to Gray Summerlin for his dedication in being a special son-in-law to her, and for his part in providing a comfortable place to be.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24, at Tyndall Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. with funeral services following at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Ashley Summerlin and the Rev. Liconus McCaffity. Burial will follow in the Jesse William Price Family Cemetery.
