Officials Urge Wayne County Residents To Plan For Hurricane Season

(GDN) – Tomorrow wraps up National Hurricane Preparedness Week in North Carolina. Wayne County Emergency Management says with warmer weather quickly approaching, now is the time to prepare. They say it’s important for everyone to write down a plan and gather important documents such as driver’s license, insurance policies, medicals records and bank account statements.

Officials say store the documents somewhere with quick access in case of emergency. They also say assemble an emergency supplies kit that includes enough non-perishable food and water to last each family member three to seven days. Finally, make sure to review and update homeowners’ or renters’ insurance policies ensuring coverage for damage, natural disasters and flood insurance. National Hurricane Preparedness Week runs May 1-7, 2022.
