Wayne County Department of Social Services informed the Goldsboro Police Department on Monday that they had received information about a 2-month old infant that was reportedly injured by his father.

After further investigation, it was determined that the child had other previous injuries, and an investigation into how those injuries occurred was conducted.

The suspect was identified as 31-year old Abel Buck Owens, father of the child. The investigation progressed and probable cause was developed. On May 9th, a warrant was secured against Mr. Owens for one count of Felony Child Abuse. Mr. Owens was already in the Wayne County Jail for an unrelated matter and was served the warrant by the Goldsboro Warrant Division.

Mr. Owens was processed at the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office, given a $100,000 secured bond, and placed in the Wayne County Jail. His first appearance was scheduled for May 10.
