The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was alerted on May 26, 2022 to an Instagram message threatening to harm students and staff of Wayne County Public Schools. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office immediately began an investigation with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office a 12 year old juvenile from Wayne County was charged with 35 counts of “Making a False Report Concerning Mass Violence on Educational Property” to the Wayne County schools. The juvenile was released to his parent.

At no time were the students and staff in any danger due to these threats being made.
