Between May 15th and May 23th, 17 vehicles were reported broken into in the Goldsboro, Pikeville, and LaGrange areas of Wayne County. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began investigating these cases and developed Andrew Hanner, 34, of Goldsboro as a suspect.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of Andrew Hanner, and on the night of May 27th, deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team observed Hanner operating a motor vehicle. Deputies initiated a traffic stop with Hanner, which resulted in a lengthy vehicle pursuit around the Goldsboro area, and Hanner was subsequently taken into custody.
Hanner was charged with 17 felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, 12 counts of misdemeanor larceny, 2 felony counts of firearm by felon, 2 felony counts of larceny of a firearm, 1 count of felony larceny, 4 felony counts of financial transaction card theft, 3 counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, and 1 count of felony fleeing to elude arrest. He was left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center. His bond was set at $1,460,000 secured.
During the investigation, the detectives working on this case recovered several pieces of stolen property which had been taken during the vehicle break ins.
