After many years of dedicated service to Wayne County Public Schools, more than 100 retiring employees were recognized at the district’s 2021-2022 Retirement Ceremony held last week at the Lane Tree Conference Center.
District leaders say the event was a great way to thank retirees for their contributions to public education.
“Each of our employees had a vital and valuable role in supporting students and helping our schools meet their core education mission,” states Dr. David Lewis, Superintendent. “They impacted the lives of countless students and families, and selflessly and richly gave of themselves for the advancement of students and our schools. Regardless of their position, they helped make a difference in a child’s life each and every day they came to work. We wish all of our retirees a wonderful future ahead.”
All total, retirees had approximately 2,550 cumulative years employed in the education profession in North Carolina. The 2021-2022 retirees are as follows:
