Sergeant Fishman’s patrol car sits in front of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Annex with a wreath draped across the hood as a memorial.    

A procession carrying Sergeant Fishman will make its way home to Wayne County on Friday. This escort is expected to leave ECU Medical (Vidant) around 10 am and travel to Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Dudley.

The route will be from US-264, to US-301, to I-795, to US-117 South, to Shumate Faulk Funeral Home on 117 South.

Anyone wishing to honor Sergeant Fishman is invited to join first responders lining the procession route.

A memorial service honoring the life of Sgt. Matthew Fishman will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the University of Mount Olive’s Kornegay Arena.

A procession will travel from Kornegay Arena to Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley following the service where he will be buried with honors.
