Body Identified as Missing Greenville Man

The medical examiner has identified the body located on Watershed Road as a missing Greenville man. The family of Greenville resident Alex Sharpless reported him missing on July 10, 2022. Then on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at approximately 9:29 am, the Wayne County 911 Center received a call about a body in the 600 block of Watershed Road, LaGrange.

Deputies and detectives were dispatched to the area where the body of a deceased unidentified
male subject was located within the wood line near the highway. A citizen driving by saw the body
and called 911.

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, the deceased unidentified male subject was identified by the Medical
Examiner’s Office in Raleigh, as being 21-year-old Alex Sharpless II from Greenville, NC.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who may have information
related to this incident; please contact Detective Donald Gregory at 919-705-6567.
