On Friday, Wayne County 911 received a call concerning a shooting at 112 Carmel Lane, Goldsboro, NC. Wayne County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and located a Hispanic male subject suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding deputies attempted to render aid to the victim; however, he was declared deceased once
EMS workers arrived on the scene. The victim was identified as 31-year-old Mayor Perez
Vazquez of the residence. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and have
begun their investigation. The body of the deceased was transported to Wayne UNC Healthcare
to be later transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. This investigation is in
the early stages at this time, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
