During the late evening hours of October 30, 2022, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was
notified of a circulating Instagram post threatening the student body at Eastern Wayne High
School.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation with the assistance of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, NC ISSAC, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and Clayton
Police Department.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the originating Instagram post was made
from New Mexico where a juvenile was charged for the threats.
