On December 8th, 2022, at approximately 2:45 am, a Wayne County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task
Force member attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a speeding motorist. The motorist, who was
found to be a juvenile, failed to stop and led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit that ended in the
city limits of Goldsboro after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch.

The juvenile driver was charged with Flee/Elude Arrest W/ MV, Speeding, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Fail to Heed light or siren, and Driving after consuming a controlled substance under 21 and was released to the custody of his parent.
