Saturday morning started out on the cold side with the temperature in the mid-’30s as the UMO women’s Lacrosse team took the field, Their first scrimmage to open the 2023 season began at 10 a.m. at the Ray McDonald Sr. Complex. Following the women’s game, the men’s Lacrosse team hosted Lander University in their first home Conference Carolinas match. Unfortunately, the UMO men lost their home opener with a score of 11 to 7.
Saturday night was their Annual Church night where 41 churches were represented in attendance for the women and men’s basketball game. With a packed house the women’s game kickoff at 5 p.m. as they took on King University Tornado. The UMO Lady Trojans took the win with a score of 83 to King’s 52.
The men’s action started around 7 p.m. with both teams battling it out up and down the court in the first 20 minutes of the game. During halftime, UMO students and church youth students had a blast playing all sorts of games. The second period of action got underway as both teams battled the last 20 minutes of hard stomping action up and down the court. In the end, King Tornado took the win over the UMO Trojans with the final score of King 81, and UMO 78.
