After a lengthy investigation, a LaGrange man has been arrested for the murder of Alex Darrell Sharpless II.

The family of Greenville resident Alex Sharpless reported him missing on July 10, 2022. Then on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Sharpless was found deceased on Watershed Road.

On February 21st, 2023, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Malyk R. Williams of La Grange and charged him with murder for the death of Alex Darrell Sharpless II. Williams was taken into custody without incident at his residence and taken before a Wayne County Magistrate who gave him no bond. He was then turned over to the Wayne County Detention Center.
