Wayne County broke ground on a new detention facility Thursday. The new lockup will be next to the Carey A. Winders Detention Center on North William Street.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday, March 21 to discuss funding for a new DSS/Health facility. The commissioners are expected to set a Public Hearing for April 4th to discuss financing the new facility. They also are taking action on a resolution supporting rail service between Goldsboro and Wilmington.
