Barbara Edgerton Johnson, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Wayne County on July 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Katherine Jinnette Edgerton.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Ray Johnson.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Barbara Kay Johnson, Charles Harold “Hal” Johnson (Pamela Johnson), Gwen J. Goodyear (Scott Goodyear), and Gordon Scott Johnson; grandchildren, Brandy Nicole Johnson, Jacob Gordon Johnson, Amber Elizabeth Goodyear, and Hannah Lauren Goodyear; brother, David Edgerton (Janie Edgerton); and sister, Ruth E. Deaver (Dennis Deaver).

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Almond Warrick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2127 U.S. Hwy 70 W, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
