D.J. (Duane Jeffrey) Francis Remington Jr. transitioned from his earthly life to life eternal on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home. Born in Pennington County South Dakota on April 23, 1990, he was the son of Duane Alan Remington Sr. and Shelly Jean Newman.

He was preceded in death by his sister Allison Asheim, his grandpa and nana, James and Susan Oswald, his paternal grandparents, Francis and Sylvia Remington, and his Aunt, Carol Remington.

From a small child, D.J. was mechanically inclined and good with his hands. There were not many things that he could not fix, modify, or create. From dirt bikes to cars to trucks, if it had a problem, he could fix it and get it back on the road again. His creative mind allowed him to look at almost anything and re-create it.

D.J. loved a good time. He enjoyed music, concerts, and festivals with his fiancé Michelle. He loved gatherings with family. He enjoyed playing with and picking on his nieces and nephew (especially picking on his nephew Hayden). He especially valued his friendships and made it a point to stay in contact even though his career brought him all over the country.

D.J. loved anything that moved fast. He was especially passionate about dirt bikes and quads. If he wasn’t working on one, you could definitely find him riding one. Once he put his hands on the handlebars, he had no fear. It was like nothing else existed but him, his bike, and the ground. He also had a passion for drag racing and diesel trucks. He built and raced multiple trucks and cars over the years.

In addition to his parents, D.J.’s memory will forever linger in the hearts of his life partner, Renee Michelle Atkinson; his beloved fur babies, Monster and Hank; step-parents, William Newman and Melodi Remington; siblings, Chad Asheim and wife Hayley, Chelsie Carlile and husband Jared; nieces and nephews, Hayden Carlile, Addilynn Asheim, Rylie Carlile, and Aria Asheim; aunts and uncles, Jeff Mount and wife Sandi, Ryan Huth and wife Dani, Jonas Mount and wife Stephanie, and Karla Remington; future father in law, Greg Atkinson and wife Tina; future mother in law Sue Atkinson; and many cousins and friends.

A Service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
