Goldsboro Police have arrested two people in connection with the armed robbery and shooting death of the clerk. According to the report, on Sunday afternoon, Goldsboro Police responded to a call of an armed robbery and a person shot at Family Dollar on Wayne Memorial Drive.
When officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that two men came into the business and shot the victim during the robbery. Then the suspects ran away from the business.
The clerk, Alexander Thomas, 46, was located behind the register by responding officers suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Thomas was an employee and was working at the time of the robbery. He was transported to UNC Health Wayne, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The two suspects, Yiheim Quishown Fryar, 20, and Aaron Taiwan Coppedge, 24, were located by Officers some short distance away. Each suspect was arrested and charged with one count of Armed Robbery and an open count of Murder. Both suspects were taken before a Wayne County Magistrate and left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under No Bond.
