Against Pitt County Post 39, Wayne Post 11 started off strong, delivering hit after hit and making the situation seem simple. Pitt County Post 39 tried to stop Wayne Post 11’s impressive hitting show by switching pitchers three times in all, but they were unsuccessful. Post 11 completely dominated the game and won it early thanks to the no mercy rule after taking a 14-3 lead in the top of the fifth. Post 39’s efforts were unsuccessful.
When Post 11 first came out, it seemed like every ball their bat made contact with was on its way to the fence. Mason Moffett was the first to get the party started by getting an RBI single to get the celebration going, making it 1-0. A walk to first base and a sacrifice hit from Nate Smith made for an early 3-0 lead then Colin Woolard added to the party by getting an RBI double to give his team a boost and make it 4-0. After Kole Trull’s wild pitch brought the Bottom of the 1st to a close, pushing Post 11 lead to 5-0.
In the second inning, Post 39 fought hard to score points and cut the margin to 5-3, but Post 11 wasn’t about to let that happen without having an answer for Post 39’s run. Post 11 dominated on every aspect of the field, defense, and offense in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd innings, increasing their advantage to 11-3 with the help of left fielder Wyatt Lassiter’s in-park home run to a squad that was already feeling deflated. With the no mercy rule in effect, Post 11 ends the game early in the top of the 5th. The final score was 14-3. For Post 11, the pitching duo of Carson Gipson and Gabe Adams making things difficult for post 39 through all but one of the innings. Wayne Post 11’s next game is on May 31st at 7pm at ECAP baseball field.
