John Edwin Thigpen, 81, was called home on Sunday afternoon.

John was a native of Wayne County and was born to the late Beatrice Smith Thigpen and John Arthur Thigpen. He graduated from Atlantic Christian College and then graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Pharmacy. John never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 51 Years, Faye Lane Thigpen, a brother Frank Thigpen and wife Lynne of Pinehurst, and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Christopher Thigpen.
A private graveside service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley, NC.
