Bobbie Ernest “B.J.” Wood, Jr., 64, passed away on Saturday at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro. B.J. was born in West Virginia to the late Bobbie Ernest Wood, Sr., and Lora Long Wood on December 25, 1958.

B.J. retired from O’Berry Center. He enjoyed being outdoors. Nothing was more satisfying than sitting on the bank wetting a fishing line, kite flying, or just being at the beach, especially Ocracoke Island. B.J. enjoyed spending time with those he loved and with a good novel by John Grisham.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Janet Balasko officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

B.J. is survived by his sister, Robbin Curtis, and husband, Joe of Hatteras. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Wood.
