June 21, 2023, 63, Princeton –
Herndon Murray Boyette, 63, of Princeton, NC, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 and was reunited with his parents and his sister. He is survived by his son Michael, his daughter, Erica, and his grandchildren, Natalie, Alex, Hailey, and Michaela. Herndon was born on May 27, 1960, to Dr Ben & Quin Boyette, who along with his sister, Elizabeth (Bitsy) Boyette preceded him in death. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Charlotte) Boyette, along with niece, Carly, and nephew, Jordan Herndon and Hutch. In addition, Herndon has an uncle, Frank (Tish) Redwine of Rome, Georgia.
Through motorcycle racing with his dad, Herndon came to know Charles and Sammy Langley. Through this connection, he began working on the Langley farm at age 11 where he spent his summers working and living with the family. After the passing of Herndon’s parents, he was welcomed into the Langley family as one of their own. Herndon is survived by his second family, Charles and Sue Langley who he called “Dad” and “Mom”, a brother, Sammy (Shari) Langley, and sisters, Deborah (Robert) Rouse, Patricia (Hal) Woodard, and Amy (David) Mitchell.
More family and friends include Buddy and Melissa Spell, Tommy Lawhorn, Danny Pierce (& family), the employees of Danny Pierce Farms, Eric Dean, and the Dean family. Herndon was well known in Goldsboro where he worked for 32 years at Dean’s Wheel Aligning and by his friends as “Worm” by some. Bernice Langley coined Herndon with this nickname because of the amount of food he would consume when he spent his summers eating in “Mom’s” kitchen.
He grew up spending many happy times with his paternal grandparents, Ben and Ethel Boyette, his Aunt Sue, Uncle Harold, and cousins, Lynny, Debbie, and Glenn Coltrane. Herndon loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and riding motorcycles. His most recent passion was spending time in Bayboro where he fished, ate well, and formed great friendships at Mrs. Belva Radcliff’s boat ramp and campgrounds.
The family would like to thank Herndon’s medical team which consisted of the loyal Tommy Lawhorn, Carly Boyette Warner, Danny Pierce, Martha Mayo, 3HC Home Care, Christy-his personal care tech, nurses at 3HC, all of the doctors in Smithfield, and Kitty Askins.
A celebration of life will be held at Antioch Church, 2306 Old Smithfield Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina on Sunday, June 25th at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Following Herndon’s celebration of life, there will be a gathering at 4:30 for food and fellowship at the farm across the street from Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 North Carolina 581 South, Goldsboro, North Carolina. All are welcome to come, just as Herndon wanted.
