In the early hours of July 14, 2023, Rebecca Johnson Wines passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center due to complications with cancer. She was 67 years old.

Mrs. Wines was a graduate of Meredith College and held a BA degree in both business administration and home economics. She was a long-standing and well-loved member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro where she served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and an active member of many church committees.

To her family, she was a wonderful wife, beloved mother, loving sister, magnificent cook, enthusiastic gardener, and the missing piece of her husband’s life.

Preceding her in death are her father, Ernest Graham Johnson, and her mother, Mary Frances Perry Johnson.

Surviving is her husband of 42 years, Daniel Shea Wines, and her sons, Daniel Shea Wines, Jr., age 37, and Benjamin Johnson Wines, age 34. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Emily Perry Johnson, and her husband, Lynn Muchmore, and her brother, Ernest Graham Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Susan. She is also survived by three nephews, Gray, Tyler, and Charlie Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Goldsboro. Burial will conclude at Wayne Memorial Park.
