The races in multiple elections in Wayne County changed considerably as the deadline to file arrived on Friday.
The City of Goldsboro mayoral race now has six candidates as Raymond Smith Jr., Charles Gaylor IV, Chuck Henry, Dave Craig, Zach Lilly and Bevan Foster have all filed to run.
On Friday, Yvonnia Moore filed to enter the race for the Goldsboro City Council District 1 seat. The District 1 seat is currently held by Hiawatha Jones, who has already filed to run for election.
Chris Boyette and Kal Butt have both filed to run for Goldsboro City Council District 2. Jamie Taylor and Myelle Thompson will contend for the District 3 Goldsboro City Council seat.
Current mayor pro tem Brandi Matthews, and Sadie Baldwin Simmons have filed to run for the Goldsboro City Council District 4 seat. Phyllis Merritt-James, Beverly Weeks and Chretien Dumond will compete for the Goldsboro City Council District 5 seat.
The Goldsboro City Council District 6 race has two candidates, Roderick White, and Steve Taylor.
Beverly Keen and Tony McCabe have both filed to run for the Wayne-Fork Township Sanitary District Board.
Five candidates, Danny Tillman, Joey Threewitts, Ken Tucker, Walter Bridgers and Dale Kirby have each entered the race for the Northwestern Sanitary District Board.
The Southern Wayne Sanitary District Board race also has five candidates, Nathan Trent, Thomas Gainey, Jessica Pope, Matthew McLamb and Scott Walker.
Steve Wiggins and Jerome Newton will contend for mayor in Mount Olive. The Commissioner at-large position in Mount Olive race has two candidates, Robert King and Danny Keel.
The race for the Mount Olive town board District 1 seat has three candidates, Vicky Darden, Brenda Simpson and Annie Simmons. Delreese Simmons and Harlie Carmichael will compete for the Mount Olive town board District 2 seat.
Barbara Kornegay is seeking election for the Mount Olive town board District 3 seat, while Tommy Brown and Blake Turner have filed for election in District 4.
Jeremy King, David Bennett, Jimmy Cox, Daryll Overton, Kelly Hughes and Don Jenkins Jr., have each filed to run in the race for the Southwestern Sanitary District Board.
Eddie Yelverton, Beatrice Jones and Keith Spivey will contend for election as Mayor of Fremont.
