Janie Evans Jackson, 93, a longtime resident of the Rosewood Community, died Monday morning in her home. She was the daughter of the late Gurney and Hazel Wiggs Evans. Janie was a member of Pine Forest Church of Goldsboro and was retired from Wachovia, (Wells Fargo).
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Pine Forest Church, followed by a graveside service Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton, with Reverend Billy Olsen, officiating.
Janie is survived by her husband, William ‘Bill” Jackson; daughter Amelia Humphrey; son, David Jackson and wife, Jeannie; grandchildren, Mary Katherine H. Gurganus and husband, Blake, Kourtney Humphrey, Heather J. Phillips, and husband, Jamie and Joshua Jackson and wife, Bliss; great-grandchildren, Hunter Sasser, Shelby Phillips, Paris Jackson, Dallas Jackson, Easton Jackson, and Tate Gurganus. Janie is also survived by her sister, Linda E. Kornegay, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her sister, Donnie E. Mayo.
