On Aug. 6. at 6:18 a.m., Goldsboro Police Department A-Shift officers, along with Wayne County EMS and Goldsboro Fire, were dispatched to 117 Astor Ct. in reference to the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, an 8-year-old juvenile was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the left lower leg. The juvenile was transported to UNC Health Wayne and then transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment of his injury.
Goldsboro Police Investigations Division was contacted.
On Aug. 28, warrants were secured against Jalen Bowden, 18, of Goldsboro relating to this case. After further investigation, Bowden was charged with one count of Felony Negligent Child Abuse – Serious Bodily Injury. Bowden was arrested Aug. 28 after turning himself in at the Wayne County Magistrates Office. Bowden received a $5,000 unsecured bond.
