Late Friday afternoon firefighters from the Arrington Volunteer Fire Department and the El-Roy Volunteer Fire Department, along with EMS medics 8 and 11, were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of NC 581 Bill Lane Blvd and Arrington Bridge Road.
The intersection was completely blocked by an overturned truck and a passenger car. Firefighters had to stabilize the overturned truck before removing the roof to free the person who was pinned inside the vehicle.
Using specialized tools firefighters quickly gained entry to the driver of the truck before the EMS crews transported multiple injured persons to the hospital. The accident closed the highway for about an hour while law enforcement and wreckers cleared the scene.
