WCC to Hold Presentation to Celebrate Constitution Day

Wayne Community College will take part in honoring the United States Constitution next week. On Sep. 21 at 11 a.m., WCC History Instructor Dean Lawson will give a presentation titled “How We Got the United States Constitution” in Room 161 of the Wayne Learning Center, which is the building on the main campus that has the flag poles in front.

The lecture will tell the story of the document that became the foundation of America. Lawson
will also explore the purpose of constitutional processes and how the “Framers” of the Constitution overcame their differences of opinion through compromise.

Additionally, a display on the Constitutional Convention and the contents of the document it created, as well as its amendments, will be set up in the Atrium of the Wayne Learning Center for viewing from Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22. These activities are free and open to the public.

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sep. 17, 1787. Constitution and Citizenship Day educational programs are mandated by federal legislation for all educational institutions that receive federal funding.
