Frankie Medlin Zwirblia

September 11, 2023, 81, Goldsboro —

Frankie Medlin Zwirblia, 81, peacefully departed this life and took her place in God’s kingdom, surrounded by His love, on Monday, September 11, 2023. She was born in Hamlet, NC to the late Frank and Ruby Medlin on June 19, 1942. In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by her brother, John Medlin; sisters, Marguerite Thornton and Carole Sears (Other Mother); niece, Judy Ray Medlin; and her beloved dog, Xander (Good Boy / her Buddy).

Serving as the first lay school teacher at St. Mary Catholic School, Frankie opened the minds and enriched the lives of many youngsters throughout her 38-year career, teaching 3rd grade most of those years. Frankie was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Parrish.

Spending time enjoying the majestic views of the mountains was a favorite for Frankie, yet time at home caring for her dogs was just as grand. Nothing in life compared to the quality time spent with those she loved most, however. Being with her children and grandchildren was the ultimate delight.

Frankie always supported her daughter, Karen, with her love of horses. For many years she enjoyed traveling to various destinations for horse shows and events. “Fancy”, their beloved horse and longtime family member, still lives with the family and is adored by Frankie.

A strong supporter of all her family, Frankie found interest in the activities her grandchildren loved. For her granddaughter Tiffany, she was excited to attend every ballet recital and was the biggest hockey fan and first coach for her grandson Christopher (#28).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and they will also greet friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Fr. Roch T. Drozdzik presiding. The interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Frankie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Gerald Zwirblia, Sr.; son, Thomas Gerald “Tommy” Zwirblia, Jr. and wife, Melissa; daughter, Karen Zwirblia Chase and husband, Andrew; grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole Zwirblia and Christopher Thomas Zwirblia; special furry friend, Nika; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much including: Bobbie Ann Grose, Joseph and Susan Thornton, John and Linda Medlin, William and Marie Sears, and Joseph and Suzy Sears.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to St. Mary Catholic School.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
