September 11, 2023, 84, Goldsboro —
Norwood Cecil Anderson was born on January 1, 1939, in Goldsboro, NC to the late Herman Steele & Carrie Martin Anderson.
Although originally from Goldsboro, Norwood spent the majority of his life in Rocky Mount, NC. He was in sales for the majority of his life, and he was exceptional at it. He was so likable that many would say, “He could sell ice to an Eskimo”. He had a quick wit and loved to crack jokes. If he picked on you, that meant he considered you a friend.
In his younger days, he enjoyed acting and performing. Being a theatre buff fueled his passion for movies and television. He loved to impress people with his knowledge of actors and directors.
His love of the arts didn’t end there. Much like his father, Herman, he could draw anything. He was also a gifted writer and poet. He would often write poems to commemorate family members’ birthdays or special events.
Perhaps his most notable quality was his strong faith. He loved the Lord with his whole heart. Even when he felt horrible fighting cancer, he still thanked the Lord for giving him another day. Many days he would pray out loud in the hospital, never losing hope.
Outside of his love for his family, he loved watching Duke basketball more than anything. He attended classes at Duke University and was a true-blue fan until the end of his days. We ask that you wear his favorite color, Duke Blue in his honor.
