Ida Lee Bass Padgett went to her eternal rest on September 14, 2023, at Goldsboro Assisted Living in Goldsboro, NC.

She was born May 4, 1931, in Johnston County, NC to the late Ira and Flossie (Mitchell) Bass, and was the last survivor of their eight children.

She lived most of her life in Wayne County, NC. Ida was an independent, generous, fun-loving, and encouraging person. Her laugh was infectious and when she loved you, she loved you with her whole self. She gave away many material things in her life, saying it gave her great pleasure seeing others enjoy and appreciate those gifts. She took care of her appearance, coordinating her clothing and accessories when going out, striving to make a nice impression. She loved filling her home with many precious photos and mementos of family and friends. She held many jobs in the area – including dry cleaning clerk, automobile painting prep technician, nursing home caregiver, child care provider, and forklift operator for Nabisco Corp.

She will be interred beside her only child, the late William Joseph (Billy) Padgett, in the Pikeville Town Cemetery.
