Tempie Creech Hare, 89, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wayne County on January 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Grady Creech.
In addition to her parents, Tempie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hare; sons, Paul Leon Hare and Gilbert Lee Hare; brothers, Gilbert Creech, Norwood Creech, and Edward Creech; and sisters, Helen C. Beavers, Lora C. Beasley, Patty C. Carter, and Pauline C. Allen.
Tempie is survived by her son, Michael Hare, and wife, Marilyn; grandchildren, Ryan Hare, Paul Hare (Brittany), and Sarah Hare (fiancée, Jason Krisko); and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Tempie was raised on a farm in the Indian Springs community and enjoyed working in her daddy’s country store. She was saved and joined the Indian Springs Free Will Baptist Church at the age of 13. Tempie graduated from Seven Springs High School in 1952. A few years later, she married the love of her life, Paul Hare on November 22, 1956. Together they shared 32 wonderful years until his passing on June 28, 1988. Tempie’s love for her children and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life.
For many years, Tempie worked as a CNA at Mount Olive Retirement Center, from where she retired. Living in the Grantham community, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department. Tempie was a dedicated and faithful member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in the fellowship hall of Falling Creek Baptist Church. A service to celebrate Tempie’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
