September 26, 2023, 78, LaGrange —
October 27, 1944 – September 26, 2023
Alvin Earl Aycock peacefully went to a better eternal home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He is survived by the love of his life for 60 years, Carolyn Browder Aycock of La Grange; son, Steve Aycock, and wife, Sheri; and three sisters, Wilma Herring of Seven Springs, Esther Anderson of Kinston, and Sue Carol Aldridge of Kinston. He was preceded by his father, William Alvin Aycock, and his mother, Ruby Burroughs Aycock.
Alvin was a very smart and hardworking man by made a living repairing and painting cars for over 50 years, including owning Aycock’s Body Shop for nearly 40 years just outside of his hometown of La Grange.
Making his living repairing cars fell short of his love of racing them at dragstrips throughout Eastern North Carolina. He was locally famous for the red ‘68 Chevelle SS that he and Carol purchased new. It still remains within the family in nearly perfect condition. He later picked up the love of fishing, catching, cleaning, and cooking. Nothing was better than fresh spots and sea mullets.
A service of love and remembrance will be held by the graveside at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Fowler officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks, especially the nurses and staff at UNC Hospital in Kinston.
