September 29, 2023, 54, Mount Olive —
Henry Carrol Grady, Jr., known to all as Hank Grady, passed away Friday evening, September 29, 2023, at his home after receiving a heartbreaking health diagnosis just days prior. He was 54 years old.
Hank was a native of the Scott’s Store community near Mount Olive and had lived his entire life in close proximity to the area.
He was a member of the 1987 graduating class of North Duplin High School. In his early adulthood, Hank was employed at Mt. Olive Pickle Company, followed by employment at Southern States Mount Olive Service where he had worked for 34 1/2 years, right up until his passing. Having grown up in and around auction sales with his parents operating Grady’s Auction House, Hank obtained his auctioneer’s license and assisted his parents. Upon their deaths, he took the reigns of the auction house and continued its success.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carrol and Jean Manning Grady; his sister, Pamela Louise Grady; and Preston Singleton, who had become a special member of the family, Hank leaves behind his wife, Gail Crews Grady, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Karry Grady of Mount Olive; a daughter, Danielle Grady and her significant other, Alex Tindall, both of Charlotte; step-children who are twins, Laken Boone of the home, and Justin Boone of Rose Hill; a grandson, Jameson Grady of Mount Olive; two brothers, Kenny Grady and Brandon Grady, both of Mount Olive; two nieces, Haley Grady and Kylie Jo Grady, both of Mount Olive; several aunts and cousins.
Monday night, October 2, from 6 until 8 p.m., the family will be at Tyndall Funeral Home for friends and relatives to pay their respects. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Dail. Burial in the Grady Family Cemetery will follow the service. While the family welcomes floral expressions, they would also appreciate memorial gifts being made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
