October 12, 2023, 73, Mount Olive —
Stephen Mark Whitfield, better known as Steve Whitfield, passed away early evening, Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Steve, a livestock farmer, was quite fond of the Summerlin’s Crossroads community in which he lived most of his life. He attended the Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He has now joined his late parents, the Rev. Marvin R. Whitfield and Joyce Whitman Whitfield, and an infant grandson, Benjamin Luke Whitfield on the other side, leaving behind to cherish sweet memories and to mourn his passing, his wife, Kay Rogers Whitfield; three sons, Brandon M. Whitfield of Burlington, Benjamin G. Whitfield and wife, Brooke Kelly Whitfield of Mount Olive, and Matthew Whitfield and wife, Faith Wright Whitfield, of Mount Olive; a sister, Deborah W. Smith and husband, Eddie, of Selma; and grandchildren, Riley Marie Augustino, Ethan Whitfield, Hannah Whitfield, Alisa Grace Whitfield, and Anders Whitfield.
Steve was a simple man with a simple philosophy of life. Therefore, his life will be remembered in a simple way, just as he had requested. A graveside service will take place Sunday, October 15, at 3:00 p.m. in the Whitfield Family Cemetery located adjacent to Rooty Branch Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Whitfield. The family will greet relatives and friends at the cemetery at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be submitted to Royal Home Ministries, 7490 N West St. Falcon, NC 28342 (a program founded by his late parents to save infants from abortion and to offer hope and care for challenged expectant mothers).
