Jerry Creighton Clarke, 83, departed this life for life eternal at his home on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born on November 25, 1939, in Contra Costa County, California, he was the son of the late Laurel Clarke and Ruth Stone Clarke.
Jerry entered military service in 1958, retiring with full honors as a technical sergeant in 1978 after serving for 20 years in the United States Air Force. After his military retirement, he was the owner/operator of J&S Body Shop.
As a regular fixture at Eureka Christian Church for 40 years, Jerry was dedicated to service to the Lord. Singing praises from his seat in the choir, he also participated in the men’s ministry at the church. When the yearly harvest sale came around, Jerry could be counted on to be present and helpful in any way possible.
Around the home, you could find Jerry most content when working in his yard. Spending time in God’s beautiful creation while manicuring his yard to his liking brought great contentment. His many cats were well-loved, as they brought great company to him and his wife, Shirley.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Honeycutt Clarke; his son, Dr. Donald Keith Clarke and wife, Julia; his grandchildren, Brittany DeLeon and husband, Anthony, Ryan Clarke and wife, Nicole, Ashley Holland and significant other, Kevin Griffin, Amy Holcomb and husband, Michael; his great-grandchildren, Emma DeLeon, Charlotte DeLeon, Caroline DeLeon and soon to be, baby boy Holcomb in February; his sister, Judy Duncan, and husband Bob; son-in-law, Greg, and wife Donna Holland; special sister-in-law, Nancy Ingram, and his extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberley Holland, and his brother, William Clarke.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the fellowship hall at Eureka Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Burial will conclude in the church cemetery.
