November 4, 2023, 56, Raleigh —
The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors announce the earthly transition of Mr. Bobby Johnson, 56. Mr. Johnson transitioned to the UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
Bobby Rochester Johnson, Jr. was born on December 15, 1966, in Raleigh, North Carolina to parents Alice and Bobby Rochester Johnson, Sr. He departed this life on November 4, 2023, at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Bobby, fondly known as “Jr” aka “Big Sexy” grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School. Bobby returned back to North Carolina in 1990 to help care for his dad when he became sick. Bobby worked in housekeeping at Case Farms for many years before he became ill and had to resign.
Bobby adored his children, Bobby, Reginald “Reggie” and Nala. He was so proud to be a grandfather to Caleb and Tristian. He would constantly watch videos of them with a big smile on his face. He loved fishing, motorcycles, and cooking. Bobby especially loved grilling and feeding, family and friends. When it came to his cooking, especially his beer burgers, he would boast to whoever would listen. He would say, “My food can’t be duplicated because it is not taught but something special in me”.
Bobby was fondly called a teddy bear and was a fierce protector of his loved ones. You never had to wonder where you stood with him, he always spoke his mind and poured an abundance of love into the people he held dear.
He had special relationships with so many that it would take several pages to name them all. Just know that he loved each and every one of you.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father Bobby Rochester Johnson, Sr., his great grandparents James and Fannie Johnson, his grandmother Minnie Ruth Newsome, and his sister Kay Hardy.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory; mother Alice Johnson; children, Bobby Fletcher, Reginald Johnson, and Nala Johnson; grandchildren, Caleb Fletcher and Tristian Fletcher; brothers Ricky Elliot Sr. (wife Dazelene), Donnell Johnson, Tyrell Jones, and Wilbur Evans; sister Sherry Johnson Granger; nephews Farley M.
